About

My painting emerges from a dialogue between my inner world and the world around me. I explore the transitions between the visible and the invisible, between feelings and thoughts, between order and spontaneity.

"Each brushstroke brings me closer to myself.
In color, I find what cannot be said in words."

About

"Each brushstroke brings me closer to myself. In color, I find what cannot be said in words."
Tanja Hočevar

Working in watercolor and acrylic, I move between transparency and depth, between delicacy and layered strokes. Nature inspires me as a space of constant change, quiet balance, and gentle shifts, where I often recognize parallels with human inner experiences.

I believe in a beauty that is not perfect, one that arises from sincerity and vulnerability. Painting allows me to listen to myself and the world, while creating a space where each viewer can experience the work through their own feelings and recognize a part of themselves.

Bio

Tanja Hočevar (1980) is a contemporary painter who has been evolving her artistic language for nearly two decades.

Her work explores the relationships between color, emotion, and expression, moving beyond the visible to evoke the inner experience. Working primarily in watercolor and acrylic, she explores how beauty emerges from imperfection; from spontaneous gestures to subtle transitions of color.

Her visual language draws inspiration from life and nature, from floral and landscape forms that she translates into abstract compositions. For her, abstraction is not an escape from reality, but a path toward its essence.

Her paintings have been presented in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Slovenia and abroad, including International watercolor festivals such as Castra (Ajdovščina) and Fabriano in Acquarello (Italy), as well as various Ex-tempore events across Slovenia.

She lives and works in her studio in Ljubljana.
